I was delighted with IWC's decision not to make any of their new Spitfire parts with lighter silver dials as the only reason, frankly, was because Spitfire versions were made this way in the past. The tastefully decorated matte black dial (as seen in the Timezoner) and the green dial are far superior to the earlier Spitfire iterations and are more in line with the wishes of buyers. Pilot's existing Timezoner Chronograph has its appeal, but for sure I have always found a chronograph, GMT and world time clock function so "heavy" with complications; I couldn't imagine wearing it regularly in all of its 16.5mm thick glory. Nevertheless, this new Spitfire version does not satisfy my hunger for an everyday world timer from IWC for several reasons.
